Articles about the Live Earth Concerts
This is only a short selection of articles concerning the Live Earth concerts.

Azios, Tony. "Live Earth Concert: Was its Message Heard?" Christian Science Monitor 99.155 (2007): 12. Print.

This article concentrates on the concert in Giants Stadium, New York, and states that the message did not reach most of the concertgoers. Individual behavior, such as not picking up one’s trash, and a lack of further information during the concert are criticized and serve as means of evidence.

Johnson, Jim. "Report: Live Earth did its Part." Waste News November 12 2007: 20. Print.

Focussing on the carbon footprint of the concerts and the waste management, this article mainly presents statistic data. It is said that the Live Earth Green Team did a good job in reducing energy use and carbon emissions. However, I wish there was comparable data of other events so that I could decide myself if the events were an environmental success or not. Without this, the article is not very useful.

Pacey, Megan. "But Who Will Benefit from Live Earth?" Third Sector July 18 2007: 28. Print.

Megan Pacey, director of policy and campaigns Institute of Fundraising asks if the Live Earth event was a fundraiser or not. She cannot give a definite answer but claims that there was little information about who was financially benefiting and how much. She demands more transparency.

Spahr, Wolfgang, et al. “Did the Earth Move?” Billboard 119.29 (2007): 9-10. Print.

In this article, the success of the Live Earth Concerts is examined from a logistical and ecological angle. Logistically and ecologically, the concerts can be seen as a success in most instances. Nevertheless, the article also mentions critical aspects, e.g. that the artists in Japan all flew in especially for the show, or that the Giant Stadium run on biodiesel but that the tracks that carried the gear were still using normal fuel. Concerning Live Earth as an awareness-raising event, the reporter team states that it will not have such an influence as it is proclaimed by the founders/producers of the event. However, the reporter team concludes that it is good if someone talks about environmental issues at all. This article is the most detailed one about the concerts as it provides quotes from different persons and also makes aware of aspects which are still to improve. It seems to be the most balanced article.
